| Biography |
After forming such cutting edge bands like The Cobras, The Viceroys and The Original Assassins in the late 70s/early 80s,blending rockabilly/surf and blues, Mr. Conrad returned to his first love the blues. In 1985 he formed The Excellos, a harmonica driven quartet based on the high powered sounds of Chicago and Texas. Thru the 80s The Excellos toured the New York/Southern Ontario / Pennsylvania area. In 1990 Mr. C. went to Austin Tx. to play with ex-Fab. T-Bird bassist Keith Ferguson and former Rocket drummer, Dallas legend Freddie Pharoh. This tuff trio toured Texas with trips to New Orleans and the gulf coast. In93 Mr. C. returned to WNY reforming The Excellos with Buffalo veterans Nick Veltri, Jim Wozniak and Greg Zark. Entering Tom Callandras BCMK studio they cut "Im Dis Satisfied" .With guests Richard "King Bisquet-Boy" Newell on harp and Doug "Big Daddy" Morgano on tenor sax. In 1997 Mr. C. again was on the move .Mr. C. relocated to Los Angeles to play with harmonica great James Harman, doing two national tours and touring the west coast. In the next 5 years Mr. C. lent his talents to such west coast outfits as Whiteboy James and the Blues Express, The Freddie Brooks Band,2000lbs.of Blues, The Max Bangwell Band and The Queen of Swing Miss Candye Kane, and formed his own version of The Excellos featuring veteran piano rocker Steve FDor.
