The legendary Win, Lose, or Draw Band
Jack Civiletto - Guitar and Vocals: Jack Civiletto began his musical career at age 17. After attending Villa Maria College, majoring in Classical Guitar, he then realizing that he has always had a love and desire for blues and jazz would take time on a journey through many years of singing, songwriting and live performances. His career has brought him many Buffalo Music Awards, where he has received honors for Top Blues Guitar player. Top Blues Vocalist and Top Blues Band with his group "Win lose or Draw." In 2002, Jack was awarded 3rd place in The North American Rock Guitar Competition where he competed against contestants from all over the U.S. and Canada.
His active role in the music community includes a place on the board of The Buffalo Music Hall of Fame and Museum and he founded The Blues Society of Western New York, where he acted as president for seven years and founded "Super Jam", the largest yearly blues event in Buffalo. Jack created the first Saturday Blues Matinee running for 6 years and counting, which features local, regional and national acts. He also coordinates and performs at the longest running weekly Pro Jam which showcases local blues artists.
Jack has opened for many national blues acts, including Matt Guitar Murphy and shared a show with B.B. King during his time in the acclaimed blues band Win Lose or Draw . While live performance is his passion, Jack has also done some recording. "Playing it Cool" with Chicago Jack and the Marvelous Heptones is an album featuring his own jump style of blues and "Moonlight and Lavender" is an album featuring original romantic jazz ballads composed and produced by Jack Civiletto and Mark Coughlin. Two live tracks with his band, Win, Lose or Draw, were also featured on a charity compilation album called, "Sounds of Buffalo Blues", Volume One and he contributed some guitar tracks to recordings released by Pete Howard and Denny Lynn Wilson
Steve Stempien - Keyboards & Vocals:
With over 25 years as a professional musician, Steve has proven to be a very versatile keyboardist with a long list of accomplishments. After receiving his music degree from UB, Steve went on the road as the founding member of Lizard King (the very popular Doors Tribute Band). He then switched gears joining the Ike Smith Band , a touring Top 40 group . Near the end of the 80's Steve performed in another touring band called Dream Suite, a pop/rock group that also toured the northeast. He then embarked on a solo career as a boogie-woogie pianist and also played in a local based duo, The Essentials in the early 90's. Most will remember Steve as the driving force behind the Legendary Win Lose or Draw Band where he received numerous awards as Buffalos Best Blues Pianist. Steve believes playing should be fun and loves to entertain the audience, and it shows. In 2002, Steve co-founded the critically acclaimed classic soul band " The Soul Providers " where he currently performs and continues to have a great time entertaining with his talented keyboard and singing abilities.
Andy Romaneck - Bass Guitar and Lead Vocals: The " Voice " of the Win Lose or Draw Band - Andy is as solid and creative a bass player as you would ever wish to have anchor your band. Extremely gifted having a natural voice that does not need to strain Andy, can effortlessly carry the lead vocals and carry the bottom with his bass playing together and make it all seem easy. This is no easy task as the Win Lose or Draw band is a Jump Swing style blues band with tightly arranged rhythms and tempos that can be smoking fast that demand a very skilled bass player to make it all work. Andy co founded the Win Lose or Draw blues band with Jack Civiletto back in 1990 and the band enjoyed a 10 year life span achieving many accomplishments including receiving the Buffalo Area Music Awards " Best Blues Band award more than 3 times in the decade of the 90's. Andy is now locally playing with the very successful blues band , The Blues Hounds.
Bob Serette - Tenor Sax: Bob Serette and his smokin? sax, ?Sally?, take the stage, they bring with them a wealth of experience and the unmistakable sound of one of the true veterans of the Buffalo music scene. Bob was one of the original members of Tony Costa?s band, ?The Rock and Roll Revival?, which was the first successful oldies band in the area. He then shared the stage with the late Stan Szelest, followed by a ten year gig at the Lake with one of the premier party bands of the 70?s and early 80?s, Arthur?s Court. Bob then turned his attention to the 50?s and 60?s revival and played with various oldies bands in the area, including Big Wheelie and Solid Grease. Bob rounded out his musical career with a ten- year gig with one of the most successful blues bands in the area, Win Lose or Draw. It was during his ten years with this group that he was twice awarded the Buffalo Music Award for Best Blues Saxophonist.
Tom Ryan - Drums: Tom began his music career as the drummer for the very popular group called Weekend, recently inducted into the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame. He also was a member of The Vincent Michaels Band, Watchers, Skin Deep, Win Lose or Draw and SLAM. Tom was twice awarded Top Drummer in the Buffalo Music Awards. He keeps busy as a sought after studio drummer for various recording projects. He has shared the stage with such greats as Fleetwood Mac, Styx, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Sly and the Family Stone, the Guess Who, Grand Funk Railroad and others. Tom also has played drums for The Platters, the Belmonts, Godspell, and singer Susan Anton. Tommy's wealth of experience and dedication to his craft show in his playing, and his foot- tapping rhythms keep the crowd on the dance floor. |
