The history of the blues stems back to the Mississippi Delta, and black culture, slavery, and Juke Joints. The role of race in today's blues was discussed during "Race, Gender & the Blues," an open-to-the-public symposium held recently at Dominican University. Sharon Schneider forwarded this link  from the Chicago Tribune website, and mentioned it might be controversial...
